Farmers demand another farm bill on MSP

Farm Bill 2020 has been passed from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha both the houses by Modi Government, Initiate to give farmers freedom from APMC ‘mandi’ issues. They can sell their crops anywhere in India to get above MSP price and increase income but farmers are feeling insecure, demand another farm bill on MSP either include the MSP statement for the private sector in the Farm Bill 2020.

Central Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government was committed to MSP, it was “not a part of the law” earlier and “is not” today. MSP is an administrative decision of the Government of India and procurement has been taking place as a result of MSP. The Modi government had started declaring MSP by adding 50 percent profit to the cost.”

Key Issues of Farmers:

• The government will stop MSP.
• Private entities will purchase below MSP in a competitive market.
• The government will close all APMC Mandis slowly.
• The government will not purchase all crops in APMC ‘Mandis’.
• Farmers where to search private entities, who ready to purchase crops above MSP.
• Farmers don’t know, how they complete the transaction with private entities.
• Private ventures can store the crops as a result of increased inflation.

All farmers have started protest after the passed Farm Bill 2020 from Rajya Sabha, Small Farmers don’t know about the bill, some farmers have a question, feel fear on MSP and Mandis, some supported the bill and want to include MSP statement. All opposition political parties, traders, commission agents, farmer union groups protest together with farmers against the Farm Bill 2020.

Benefits of Farm Bill 2020:

• The farmer will get freedom from APMC Mandis to sell anywhere in India.
• Increase farmer’s income on good crops.
• Attract farmers on good crops.
• Reduce transportation loss of farmers.
• Export agriculture product.
• Improvement in farmers’ lives by selling directly their crops.
• Still the same MSP and APMC Mandi system.

The Actual fact is All crops have never purchased by the government on MSP or below MSP, in APMC Mandis. All APMC Mandis are occupied by traders & commission agents. The government also sets criteria to purchase on MSP which depending on quantity, quality & time therefore All APMC Mandis have fixed many traders & commission agents who decide the actual price to purchase & sell in APMC Mandis or to Private Entities depend on farmers’ behavior, agent profits, and quality. MSP is the only for some farmers and limited crops. Also not purchased all crops in APMC Mandis. Farmers are facing many issues as result increases the death ratio of farmers every day.
